Housing market in the Netherlands

In the Netherlands are 7,1 million houses. 59 percent of all houses are owner-occupied housing and 41 percent are rental houses. This percentage is stable the last years.

Almost every seller of a house hires a real estate agent to sell their house. The agent does the communication and supports the seller with the notarial transfer. Some of the buyers of houses hires a real estate agent to support them by the purchasing. The houses prizes were growing each year with at least 3%, but at this moment a lot of houses are decreasing in value. The mortgage rates are historically low.

The rent of rental houses differs between 440 euro per month in housing corporation and 850 euro per month in deregulated sector housing.

I believe that it’s still recommendable to buy houses it you can and when you have a stable living. The purchase of a house is a long term investment. When you like to travel or like to work globally then you maybe can better rent a house. You haven’t take the risks on decreasing of your house and you do not have to pay transfer tax.
